“Frequently Asked” is a bit misleading, but here are the questions I anticipate being asked. I hope to update these as I do get questions!
How long will the books be free?
I plan to keep books published online on this site free permanently.
Great, but what if I really just need a print copy?
You can buy print books from the Flyland Chronicles store. I can’t make that available for free, unfortunately, but I have created two versions to try to accommodate different budgets.
- The black and white books are about as cheap as I can make them.
- The color copies are intentionally more expensive in attempt to recoup some of the costs of maintaining the website.
Is there an audiobook available?
I’m working with a voice artist right now to produce an audiobook. I plan to make these available for free on our website and release it as a podcast.
Will there be a sequel to the Pearls of Prescott?
Yes! I’m working on a sequel to the Pearls of Prescott and also a companion series called Asher the Dent. I can’t wait to share these!
You talk about worldbuilding tools—when are those coming?
I’m not sure. This is probably the trickiest part of the website and I’m not a coder. If you’d like to see this feature arrive faster, you’re welcome to donate money or skill to me for the Flyland Chronicles.
Allowing users to create stories within the Flyland Chronicle universe will be available sooner. The tricky part is keeping other universes separate from the Flyland universe.
What worldbuilding tools are planned?
Creators will be able to:
- Publish stories on flylandchronicles.org
- Outline stories using a variety of guided approaches.
- Create character, location, and other trivia articles to help you keep track of and share details with your readers.
- Co-create with classmates, family members, and limited others.
- Spoiler-hiding tools in profile pages.
- Character dialogue tagging tools (to help writers keep character voice consistent).
Once again, many of these will be contingent upon me learning or finding the skills to develop them. I am primarily a storyteller and don’t currently plan to learn in-depth coding in order to build this platform. However, I am committed to learning how better to use the tools I already have and seeking help from more qualified individuals to make this resource as useful as it can be.
I hope to make these tools available for free.
Additionally, I plan to regularly release articles on storytelling to help writers learn how to craft compelling stories.
