Dwarves

Overview

Dwarves are sturdy, practical folk with an intense love for tradition, craftsmanship, and ancient treasures. Often shorter than humans but powerfully built, dwarves in Flyland are renowned for their strength, resilience, and impressively braided beards, which reflect their status and identity.

Culture and Traits

  • Stewards of Treasure: Dwarves take immense pride in their roles as guardians of valuable artifacts and historical legacies, frequently suspicious of outsiders who might covet their treasures.
  • Warriors and Workers: Known for their toughness, dwarves balance fierce warrior spirit with disciplined craftsmanship. They produce remarkable armor, weapons, and architecture with exquisite attention to detail.
  • Loyal and Straightforward: Honesty and integrity are vital dwarven virtues. They appreciate directness, mistrusting anyone who seems insincere or deceitful.
  • Rough but Jovial: Despite their rugged exterior, dwarves have a hearty sense of humor—often sarcastic, sometimes blunt, but always genuine.

Relationship with Others

Dwarves approach alliances cautiously, valuing honesty above all. They interact warily with humans and fairies. The dwarves appreciate their solitude from the “drama of human affairs” and have deliberately done little to diminish their violent reputation among their neighbors. Once the dwarves’ trust is earned, their loyalty is steadfast.
